In October we left Belgium for the 10th anniversary of Microsoft Directions EMEA in Madrid. During this three-day community event about 600 Microsoft Dynamics partners, from all over the world, were attending. Microsoft offered 2 plenary keynotes and many other sessions and workshops. Microsoft informed us about their new strategy.

Big Changes

As previously discussed, the shift to digitalization asks for profound changes. These are the four important changes you may expect:

  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV will be branded unther the name Dynamics 365. This doesn’t mean the end of the current product lines, they remain supported;
  • Dynamics 365 (ERP & CRM) will substitute the Business and Enterprise edition as one integrated suite. Reason: these two categories were confusing, some organisations might need more or less sophisicated business applications – functionalities – than offered within a specific categorie;
  • Microsoft Common Data Service (CDS): same data set anywhere, anytime. CDS will be the connection between all Dynamic applications, Office 365 and partner applications. Brief, it will serve as the basis for all your data;
  • Dynamics 365 ‘Tenerife’
    The new end-to-end business management ERP cloud solution with full NAV functionality, that can be customized. It offers:

    • Two deployment options: the same code base will be available for on-premise and in the cloud;
    • Two Go-to-market options: it can be offered as a Business Management Suite (CSP) or as a Business Application Platform (ISV);
